Andrew lives in Wellington, New Zealand.
He studied political science and literature at Victoria University, and later performance jazz (double bass).
In 2001 he moved to Dublin and co-formed the Irish group Gráda, with whom he performed worldwide for the best part of a decade in over 35 countries.
He has recorded 7 full length studio albums, including two solo ones, and played on numerous others, working with artists such as Tim O’Brien (O Brother Where Art Thou), Greg Liszt (Bruce Springsteen Band), Riki Gooch, Chris O’Connor, Toby Laing, John Gardner (James Taylor Band), Kelly Joe Phelps, and Fionn Regan.
He recently published a book and album called The Empire City; a history of Wellington in song, with paintings by Bob Kerr, available through Victoria University Press.
